They look to the Black River Cormorant as their guide
Their spirit other
She embodies the authority to initiate
She is their Black River SheShamen

She emerges from the depths of the river
Unfurls her iridescent cloak
And her shape-shifting psyche

She assumes her role as initiator
Presides over acts of ritual dance
Over maturation process
Over thresholds
Over rites of passage

She concentrates the energy and focus of this community of ancestral humans
She brings them into a state of heightened consciousness
Of connective consciousness

She conducts their ritual ceremonial dance
Their act of transmutation
Their enacting of the attributes of their totemic other
Their acquiring of the attributes of their primal selves

They acquire deep visceral attunement
A deep visceral identification
Within the connective web of nature

They acquire balance and reciprocity
Across all nature
Balancing the feminine and masculine spectrum in the human psyche
Balancing the psyche and the soma
Balancing the self and other

This accomplishes primal connective unity
The foundational psychic balance of their Earthminds

Their earth responsibility
And the processing of their animal identity

Across the whole Earthland

The cormorant has completed her task as initiator

Given her gift as guide to the connective web of the Earthland

She furls her great wings

She cleanses herself of the roles of guide and initiator
She reclaims her other animal identity
Her primal consciousness flows as the river
